Remember that movie spy last year? It was that Jason Statham as a James Bond type character meets Melissa McCarthy film that blended action with romantic comedy. That cost $65 million and grossed $235 million. Mr. Right is a marketing person’s wet dream about getting returns on investment.
Ok typical couple it is your date night the Man likes him some action and the woman likes her some true love, enter a new form of action/RomCom that wont be going away anytime soon $$$. Bonnie and Clyde the 1967 Arthur Penn masterpiece entertained this kind of mix but although that film had light moments at the start the consequences grew as the film progressed and we see Bonnie and Clyde gunned down at the end of the film we are made to feel the real impact of violence in society. If Mr. Right has a moral compass it is to say that killing is cool as long as you are in love.
Is this film watchable? Yes, I guess so if you turn your brain off. I like Sam Rockwell and RZA of the Wu-tang Clan but although I find Anna Kendrick cute and her singing voce agreeable her speaking voce is like fingernails on a chalkboard. And Rockwell and Kendrick have zero believable chemistry between them. This film wont ruin you evening but it is not art it is not good and will just pass the time.
